Saying that they were impressed with his talent and are troubled that he cannot accept the proposed conditions, explaining that all lifelong appointments in Würtemburg are so arranged that in the event of unsatisfactory service the authorities need not pay the whole salary--hence the pension--, mentioning the cases of Schunke and the violist Schmitt, adding that one cannot make exceptions, expressing the hope that Jacobi will reconsider, etc.
